This course gives a comprehensive review of the law of Louisiana evidence as it relates to the admissibility of character, other crimes, wrongs, and bad acts including: character of the accused, character of the victim, and character of witnesses for truthfulness/untruthfulness. This course includes a discussion of the rape shield statute (Art. 412), victim's attire in sexual assault cases (412.2), the admissibility of character evidence of the accused in sexual assault cases (Art. 412.2), and character of the victim in sexual or human trafficking cases. There is also a discussion of habit/routine practice (Art. 406), as well as credibility provisions, including convictions (Arts. 609/609.1) and other types of credibility evidence (Arts. 408, 413).
